South Carolina Boat Registration laws changed for 2020
Own a boat in SC? Live on one of our beautiful Private lakes? New changes to the boat registration laws started yesterday.
BOAT REGISTRATION CHANGES ARE IN PLACE FOR 2020
January 2, 2020, Dick Mangrum
South Carolina boat owners are reminded of a change in the boat registration rules. Starting yesterday, boat registrations are changed from three years to every year. Anyone considering buying a used boat can visit the DNR’s S.C. Boat Facts and look up the hull I-D to make sure the taxes are up to date. If you are buying a boat for the first time in 2020, you will need to visit your county tax office and pay the property tax due on the boat based on the bill of sale. After that, apply to SCDNR for an updated registration.
