Put out your Feeders -- Hummingbird Season is here!!

March 23rd is the beginning of hummingbird season this year.   I think that sounds early, but the articles I am reading says the scouts will be in the area this week. If your feeders are not out, they will skip right over you and head on to where they can find food and nectar.   Hummingbird food is a mix of  1 part sugar to 4 parts water.  NO RED food coloring.  Make sure your feeder is red and that is all that is required.  The mix will need to be changed out every other day to prevent it from fermenting and making the birds sick.

My friends Allan & Judy who live at Mountain Rest have their property for sale, but they also have a lot of hummingbirds in one place.  Judy fills the feeders each morning and they will empty them before the day's end.  Judy also has plantings to encourage them to come to her house-bright red roses, annuals, and azaleas.

Drinking coffee or just daydreaming is a lot of fun at their house in the summer.  You have the lake but you also have the hummingbird's constant eating at the feeders. Their house is 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms.  They have a great room, living room, and craft room as gathering places too.  The lake is a short walk down the path through the woods.  This is my year to sell this home, so come look-see the potential and make the move to Chattooga Lake.
