59th Annual Hillbilly Day, July 4, 2018;

The longest consecutive running event in SC, is Wednesday, July 4, 2018, from 9 am to 3 pm, 125 Verner Mill Road, Mountain Rest SC. Rain or shine the fun will be here. “The term hillbilly originated when referring to persons living in the remote regions of the Appalachian Mountains. And since the Blue Ridge Mountains are technically part of the Appalachians, parts of South Carolina are in those remote hills.” As the longest consecutive running event in South Carolina, the day-long activities include mountain arts & crafts, a pig chase, climb a greased pole, quilt raffle, clogging and costume contests, sno cones, sack races, and Children's games. Run through the grass with your shoes off. Live Bluegrass music all day. Bring a chair or blanket and stay a while. Parking and admission are free. Plan a day for just letting loose and enjoy life a bit with some homemade pie and ice cream. Blacksmith and wood carver demonstrations are just a few of the many more activities that await you at Hillbilly Day in Mountain Rest SC. Fun for the whole family.
